LAWMATE-A LEGAL AID CHATBOT
Abstract
This project introduces LawMate, an AI-powered Legal Aid Chatbot designed to make legal awareness accessible to everyone, especially those in rural and underserved communities. The system integrates Natural Language Processing (NLP), speech recognition, and text-to-speech technologies to enable users to ask legal questions through text or voice in their regional language and receive simplified legal explanations instantly.LawMate connects users to relevant laws, rights, and legal procedures while also providing contact details of nearby free legal aid centers, helping users take appropriate legal action. The chatbot is built using Python, Flask, and speech APIs, ensuring smooth and real-time responses. By combining AI automation with social impact, the project demonstrates how technology can promote legal literacy, accessibility, and empowerment for all citizens.
