EnerX: A Peer to Peer Electricity Trading Platform using Blockchain Technology

Abstract


This paper presents a blockchain-based decentralized energy trading platform aimed at addressing monopolized electricity markets. The system connects prosumers and consumers directly through an online marketplace, allowing energy to be sold without intermediaries. By leveraging blockchain technology and IoT smart meters for real-time energy data, the platform enables secure, transparent, and automated transactions. Prosumers are incentivized with higher payments for their surplus energy, while consumers benefit from lower costs compared to traditional grid prices. Grid operators receive a small commission for facilitating the transactions.
