Energy Monitoring for Smart Home

Abstract


The rapid growth of smart homes and IoT devices has created a strong demand for real-time energy monitoring and control solutions. Traditional electricity meters only provide cumulative energy readings and cannot identify which appliances consume more power.This project presents a Wi-Fi–based DC Energy Monitoring and Control System that operates completely offline, using voltage and current sensors connected to an ESP microcontroller. In addition to real-time monitoring, the system provides remote ON/OFF control for each connected DC device and a configurable auto-off timer feature accessible through a browser-based dashboard.Real-time data and device controls are displayed on a simple HTML-CSS dashboard, accessible from any mobile or laptop without requiring internet or cloud services. The system is cost- effective, privacy-friendly, and suitable for households, laboratories, and IoT environments. Experimental results demonstrate accurate monitoring and reliable switching of low-power DC appliances, providing immediate feedback and intelligent energy control for efficient management.
