Abstract

The Scotch yoke mechanism is a widely-used rotary to linear conversion mechanism. In this project, the mechanism is modelled on Solid Edge software and the programming code is extracted on NX Cam. The final code is then imported to a CNC machine for the manufacturing of the parts using Aluminium material. The use of modern tools such as Solid Edge, NX Cam, and CNC machines simplifies the manufacturing process and ensures accuracy and precision of the parts. It is important to ensure that the design is robust enough to withstand stresses and forces during operation. Safety protocols must also be followed when using CNC machines. The completed mechanism showcases the efficiency and reliability of the Scotch yoke mechanism.
