Design and Performance Evaluation of a Low-Cost Compressor for Cooling Applications

R N Panchal

Abstract

The demand for energy-efficient and cost-effective refrigeration and cooling solutions has led to significant interest in the development of low-cost compressors. This research investigates the design and performance of a low-cost compressor specifically tailored for cooling applications. The study focuses on key factors such as material selection, energy efficiency, and ease of manufacturing, with an emphasis on reducing production costs while maintaining an acceptable level of cooling performance. A comparative analysis with traditional compressors reveals potential trade-offs in terms of efficiency and durability, but demonstrates significant cost savings. The compressor prototype was evaluated under various operational conditions to assess performance metrics such as cooling capacity, energy consumption, and reliability. The findings suggest that the proposed low-cost compressor can offer a viable alternative in budget-conscious cooling systems without compromising too much on performance.
