A study on Morphology, Structure of Carrageenan, Cultivation and Applications of Kappaphycas alverzii belongs to Rhodophyta family
Abstract
Kappaphycus alvarezii, is a species of red algae belong to Rhodophyta family. The species has a significant source of carrageenan. It produces gel type product and is polysaccharides in nature. The biomass of Kappahycus alverzii There become double in very less time.. are different types of carrageenan present in it. The application of Carrageenan is very vast in every industrial aspects. Like food products, choclate milk, cream, yogurt, fertilizers etc. Aside from these functions, carrageenan is used in pharmaceutical formulations, cosmetics, and industrial applications such as mining. The objective of this study was to review the morphology, cultivation, applications of K. alvarezii, carrageenan producing plant.
