Adeniji Olawale Aladelokun, Oluwatoyin Matthew Ayiti

Abstract

This study addresses the pressing concern of sustainable waste management in Nigeria's South West region. Rapid urbanization and population growth have led to a surge in waste generation, escalating environmental and public health risks. Employing a diverse methodology, both primary and secondary data were sourced, while descriptive statistical tools were employed in the analysis of the data. This research evaluates current waste management practices, their environmental impact, and the socio-economic factors influencing them. Through extensive fieldwork, interviews, and data analysis, prevailing waste management strategies and their effectiveness in curbing environmental harm are identified.
