Abstract

This research explores the intricate relationship between the rising use of digital media and juvenile delinquency in Bangladesh. With a rapidly evolving online presence, understanding the impact of digital media on young Bangladeshis is essential. The research aims to analyze patterns of digital media consumption, evaluate its influence on juvenile delinquency, identify contributing factors, and propose effective mitigation strategies. Research method is both qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results and analysis reveal a nuanced scenario, where digital media significantly influences the behavior of Bangladeshi youth. Challenges include exposure to harmful content, peer pressure, and blurred lines between virtual and real worlds. Despite concerns, participants recognize the educational benefits and creative opportunities provided by digital platforms, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach. Comparative global data underscores the dynamic evolution of internet penetration rates in the USA, UK, India, and Bangladesh. Understanding these trends is crucial for gauging technological advancements and digital resource integration within each nation. Juvenile delinquency rates from 2019 to 2023 vary across the USA, UK, India, and Bangladesh, reflecting the dynamic nature of the issue. Economic, policy, technological, and global factors play pivotal roles, highlighting the need for context-specific approaches. Mitigation strategy trends show varying success rates, emphasizing the importance of continuous monitoring, reassessment, and innovation on a global scale. To address the challenges posed by digital media, a comprehensive approach is proposed. Strategies include digital literacy programs, parental guidance, school-based awareness, community engagement, government regulations, mental health support, collaboration with the tech industry, and ongoing research and monitoring. This multi-faceted approach aims to foster a safer online environment for Bangladeshi youth, informing evidence-based policy and guiding stakeholders in navigating the evolving landscape of digital media.
