Guttation: An Important Phenomenon of Medicinal and Nutrient Water Droplets of Wheatgrass Beneficial for Plant Growth and Other Living Organisms

Abstract

Guttation is the process by which shrub plants remove excess water in droplets. Some examples of shrub plants include strawberry plant, wheat, grass and tomato plants etc. Several Scientist and Researcher reported the time period of Guttation during the night. It was truly observed that during the night time, the transpiration process does not occur because stomata are closed. In contrast to Guttation, it was found that it occurs when the roots of a plant absorb water from the soil, it creates a pressure inside the plant, and the water is forced out through the Hydathodes. As this process occurs, the water picks up chemicals and is no longer simply water.  This nutrient water drops is important to the health of a plant because it ensures and confirm for excess water to be removed when the stomata are not open and transpiration does not occur. In most of the cases, water, minerals, and chemicals that have been secreted through the leaves or blades of a plant are known as xylem sap. As water, minerals, and other chemicals are absorbed from the soil, pressure builds in the roots and liquid is pushed up the stem of the plant/to the tips of the leaves. In the present experiment, the seeds of Wheatgrass shown on a blotting sheet rinsed with nutrient MS media. The seeds seem to germinate after 20 hours and reached upto 4cm within 72 hours of inoculation. The parameters like light, temperature etc. was also shown its impact on early germination of seeds and growth of plantlets. The roots seems to have a speedy growth than shoots in all cases. These growing plantlets of wheatgrass later, transfer to the pot containing soil for hardening. After four days, Guttation was observed as water droplets at the tip of leaves of plantlets. The objective of this study was to assess the role of water droplets, called Guttation and its nutrients for health concept of itself Wheatgrass.
