Throat cancer refers to cancerous tumor that develops in throat, voice box or tonsils; it may metastasis to other tissues or organs of the body. Throat cancer is the 6th most common type of cancer in the world. The current study was conducted to determine the disease's prevalence in a few cities. In order to determine whether the disease is linked to age, gender, and other risk factors, a comprehensive survey was carried out. The analysis revealed that males are more affected than females and it is more prevalent in adults of age group above 40 years. Individuals having multiple habits are at greater risk of developing throat cancer. Hence it can be concluded that throat cancer is common in elderly individuals who smoke and drink alcohol. A significant step toward lowering the number of cases and deaths caused by throat cancer will be quitting smoking and drinking. Throat cancer is the world’s most prevalent neoplastic diseases, and a serious threat to human health. Throat cancer is not a defined medical illness, but a term often used to refer to any type of cancer arising from the back of the mouth, upperfood pipe and voice box. The most commonplaces for throat cancers to occur are the larynx (voice box) and pharynx, where the upper part of the food pipe and voice box meet. The objective of this paper is to highlight existing methods to detect throat cancer. Also this paper presents comparative results of various existing methods.
