A Comprehenshive Journey of Millets, its Morphology, Nutritional concept and Product commercialization
Abstract
Sorghum are commonly called Millets. They are acceptable crops in all over the world in terms of production. They do not require large quantity of water. They may be grown under abiotic stresses such as drought and saline-alkali land. The genus Sorghum distributed widely in African country like Ethiopia, Sudan, East African and West Africa. Since decades, Plant hormones play a significant role in plant growth, morphogenesis, development and yield of crops to fulfill the best variety of crops. In present work, seeds of Sorghum were taken and seed was washed in Mercuric chloride for 2 min and immersed in distilled water. Later, the seeds treated with Auxin, GA, and Cytokinin (each at 10-6 M) for 6 h. Three days later, germination was reported and hardening was done. After harvesting seeds, nutritional analysis was done. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of some plant hormones like Cytokinin, GA and Auxin on growth and yield components of Sorghum under laboratory conditions. Out of four types of hormonal treatment, GA, and Cytokinin seems significant role on quick germination and growth. On the other hand, other treatment hormone seeds of Sorghum shown less effect and delayed in germination.
